The town of Rickman was once called Bilbrey's Crossing because of the store located at the crossroads. The name was later changed to Rickman in honor of Carney H. Rickman who owned and operated a big lumber yard there beside the railroad tracks. The railroad operated from the early 1900's till 1934.
