Monroe
During the early 1800s, Monroe was a very thriving pioneer town. Monroe was the first county seat of Overton County, but after complaints from people having to travel long distances for legal matters, a vote was held to move the seat to Livingston.
Today, Monroe is positioned between the rapidly developing Dale Hollow Lake to the north and Livingston to the south. The improved TN Highway 111 provides excellent access through the area and beautiful scenery makes for a nice place to live with the Lake and Livingston only minutes away.
